Budget Travel Guide

Want to travel the world but don’t want to blow through all your money? Here is the perfect guide to help you do just that!

  1. PLAN

Come up with a plan.

How long are you going? How much are you willing to spend?

Download the app Tripcoin to keep track of your spending everyday while on your trip. This will help you stay within the guidelines you set for yourself.

2. FLIGHTS

These are definitely the most expensive part of your trip.

The best way to find cheap flights is to search with flexible dates or locations. I use Google flights or Sky scanner to do this and found amazing deals.

You’ll also want to take advantage of credit card points so you can get free flights.

3. ACCOMMODATION

Hostels are going to be the cheapest option. Whether you are traveling solo or with someone else this is the best way to meet people as well.

In most countries you can find hostel beds for under $20/night. I use Hostelworld or Booking.com to book these.

If you’re not a hostel person, Airbnb is usually the next cheapest option.

Always message the Airbnb host to see if you can get the same deal but without the extra fees through Airbnb. If you don’t book through Airbnb always make sure to get a contract made up before giving the host any money.

4. FOOD

If you want to save money on food, always book an Airbnb or hostel with a kitchen. Cooking your own meals saves so much money.

If you want to eat out, check out the restaurants where all the locals seem to be eating. Those are usually the cheapest and safest options.

5. TRANSPORTATION

Take public transportation! I know this can be nerve racking trying to figure out another countries public transportation system, but trust me it’s not as hard as it may seem.

If might be slower but it’ll save you a ton of money.

You’ll also get more of a glimpse into local life and see places you may not have seen otherwise.

Using these tips I’ve been able to travel for much longer and you can too!
